Bunkers at Night - World War Two Guided Evening Tour

Join our own battlefield researchers Phil & Kimberley on a evening tour of WWII bunkers & their own research sites, all of which are not usually open to the public. They will show you how Jersey was made into an impregnable fortress & help you appreciate what the Third Reich was able to create with slave labour. The tour is also a perfect compliment to understanding the history of the D-Day invasion, which took place less than 30 miles away. Tours need to be pre-booked & early booking recommended.

Occupation Heroes - Full Day Tour
Available most Saturday and Sundays (other days on requests)

Gain fascinating and often poignant insight into the dramatic occupation of Jersey on a private tour. Accompanied by expert WWII guides we will visit sites and talk you through some of the lesser known stories from heroes of the Occupation.

We will cover the following stories during the day

Bernard Scheidhauer of 131 Squadron (Free French Air Forces), who crash-lands on Jersey
Captain Philip Ayton and Operation Hardtack 28 the only Allied incursion of Jersey.
Louisa Gould & her family who help hide Russian slave worker Bill.
Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 34 and the loss of PT509
We will follow the footsteps of Captain Ed Clark and Lieutenant George Haas who escape the German POW camp in St Helier.
The Granville Raid and the allied soldiers captured by the Germans and brought back to the Island as POW's

History at Night - Photography Tours
Available most evenings 19:30 to 22:00
£30 per person
This is a workshop offering an introduction to night time landscape, seascape and basic lightpainting photography. Our goal at every level of the workshop is to give you the information you need to continue your night photography journey on your own. We select sites that are not lit up at night and light them up, giving you a unique photography opportunity to take something special for your portfolio, wall art, facebook or just for fun.  This photography course is taken outdoors in well chosen Jersey locations. If you are unsure if your compact is suitable please check with us using the contact us by email (info@jerseywartours.com) DSLR, Compact System, and Bridge cameras are fine.

The workshop will cover the following material: 

•Resources used for planning night photography outings
•Lightpainting Gear and equipment basics, we will have some kit you can use on the night
•Understanding the fundamentals of night photography, including aperture, shutter, and ISO settings
•Focusing in the dark
•Minimising noise
•The fundamentals of using different lighting tools and techniques to light your foreground
•Basic Creative light painting
•Star trails
•Using the moon (depending on luna cycle)
•Moonrise and Moonset (depending on luna cycle)
